Vineyard Info
In 1996, captivated by the Agly Valley and its outstanding landscapes, the two Lurton brothers decided to try their hand at making wine there, and leased a vineyard - Mas Janeil, with plots situated between the communes of Maury and Tautavel. Soon thereafter, the estate's plots of old Grenache vines confirmed their potential - as well as their differences.
Indeed, there is a wide range of different soils due to the fact that the Mas Janeil vineyards straddle a geological fault. Mas Janeil extends over 70 hectares with 34 hectares planted with vines. It is located in the village of Tautavel which lies in the Pyrenees-Orientales, north-west of Perpignan. The Valley of Agly in the Roussillon is today accepted as a top quality "terroir". Mas Janeil vineyards are a mix of schist, slate and chalky soils.
